Im getting an si engine that has been ran through a CAI and a full exhaust system for $500. I am making like at least $50 payments a month on it. I will hopefully have it by the time I graduate. LOL anyways how hard is it to do an engine swap? I did it on a domestic (pontic gran prix) and I hated it but we got it done in about a week. Is there a manual that I can get on swapping engines? Thanks for all your help.

Get a haynes, or chilton manual.

Swapping the motor is pretty easy. I can do one in roughly 6 hours, without any help. It's just like a big puzzle. :D

okay I may beasking alot of simple questions here but bear with me I am a newbie.

The engine (its an Si engine) has a performance head, pistons and rings, I think a header, all ported and polished. No idea on the brand names, its been sitting for almost a year now. Do you think that I should put new gaskets and rings in it before installing? is there anyother thing that is advisable before installing? What about storage If I sit it on a tire and wrap it up in plastic will it be fine?:smoker:

i many miles did the engine have after it got all the stuff. because when he did that stuff he would have had to buy new gaskets so if the motor was only ran for like 100 miles after the build up then you dont need gaskets. but since it hasnt ran in over a year, you have to worry about all teh oil draining down to the pan so if you just stick it in and try and start it, your looking at a dry start up. so i say take off the oil pan and put oil in the cylinder walls, on the rods and caps, take off the valve cover and oil up the valvetrain
