Ok long story short. I took my car (1999 Buick Regal LS) in for a routine tune up. They replaced my spark plugs, spark plug wires, and two tires. Three days later my service engine light comes on. I took it to the shop and the dtc code P1441 come up in the scanner. I replaced the FTS and the fuel pressure system, but the car is still acting a little fun. At every fuel up it starts rough or stalls, but after that it works fine yet the SES light stays on. What do you recommend I replace and where is a good place to buy this item?

Extended DTC P1441 indicates a problem with the evaporative emissions purge solenoid being stuck open. Located at the engine, right hand side (passenger) in front of the UIM Plenum.

It sounds like it is related to the work done (routing of spark plug wires). Check the electrical connector to the purge solenoid and make sure vacuum line connections are tight and not cracked or broken.

First off thanks a lot for the information. I checked the electrical connector to the purge solenoid and the vacuum line connections. I did put one vacuum line connection back on , but other than that they were tight, no cracked or broken lines. I have driven it for the last few days, but still the same issues SES light on and rough starts when I put gas in it. Any more recommendations?

Which vacuum line was off? Have you reset the PCM module with an odb-ii scan tool since the SES light is on. Or it may take some more drive cycles to clear the SES light since it was an evaporative emissions fault. Also, what brand ignition wires and spark plugs were used?

Bnaylor,

I took the car into the dealer and had them replace the Purge Solenoid. Now the car works like a charm again. Next I'm going to work on fixing my declining gas mileage. Thanks for your information and assistance.
