Engine moves backwards when put in reverse

When I put the gear in reverse in my 97 GP GT, the engine makes a sudden move and moves backwards under the hood. My friend said it might be a bad engine mount. Is it normal for GP's to do that?

The engine will move slightly in either direction when you put the car in gear. If it is moving a good deal I have to agree with your friend that you probably have a bad engine mount.
