I just bought a '97 GTP and I notice that the service engine soon light doesn't illuminate with the key on engine off like it's supposed to. Any ideas why? Thanks

Sounds like a burnt out lamp or someone removed it for whatever reason.

If i may add to this, it also could be a cut wire. I have seen this happen when there is a problem with the car, and do not want the person buying the car to know. What do you think Bob? This does happen, but not likley. Anything is possable.

Anything is possible Andrew especially when it deals with the SES/CEL light. Something fishy going on. :dunno:

If the wire was cut, could this cause a slow current draw?

Bring it in to have it scanned.
You will at least have 1 code stored.
The SES light if it burns out or if removed for whatever reason will trip a DTC (I forget which one).
Are you experiencing a parisitic drain on the battery?
