just a wee bit of water

friends -
i replaced my valve covers at the same time that i was doing work on my coolant system and while the covers were off about a set of heater core hoses worth of coolant spilt into the exposed heads and into the case. i was hopeing that such a small amount of water would burn off, but when i check the oil level after running the car i get these air bubbles on the dip stick. also suddenly the motor is eating oil at an alarming rate.
so i'm guessing that the water won't burn off and i should change the oil immediately? any seconds or opinions on that? i don't see how the motor going through oil and the presence of water can be related, but you know better than I. please share your thoughts.

Little tough to say on that one. I have a cougar with a set of blown heads and it still runs, but water gets into the oil and I do not burn oil. Perhaps you should flush the engine and change the oil. Maybe the antifreeze/water is causing the air bubbles, making the engine work harder and hotter. I am not sure, but just a thought.

Well a few small bubbles in the oil on the dipstick is nothing, unless the bubles are more of a foam. If you have water in your oil then you better change it now. You cn cause bearing damage that way and this could be why you are using so much oil.

Not trying to scare, just relaying the facts. Hope for the best. Change your oil, check plugs for oil (wouldnt be bearing related), check oil for water after oil change, cut oil filter apart and check for bearing material.
