i am doin a engine swap to my 95 240. which should i do? the black top sr20det swap and then try to get 400 hp out of it, or get the rb24 or 34 or 36 dett. i can't remember which one it is. which one is smarter and is less $$$ in the long run. and can the rb fit in the car without doin the clip??

well, first off, ther is no rb24, 34, 36 or whatever you put. thers an rb26dett, and the rb20det....im pretty sure those are the two. also, it wouldnt make any difference if you got a clip of hte rb or not. the engine and block are still the same size. and yesl, the rb does fit into the 240 with some mods. i think the rb swap would be more expensive. thats why i'm going with the s14 sr20det into my 95 240sx. what mods would be planning on doing for both? you say you want 400hp out of the sr. pretty easy, but not cheap. and which black top? s13, s14, or s15??

i would probably get a s14 black top if i would get the sr20. but how much are we talkin to get the sr20 up to 400 or even 500 hp. i can install the rb by myself. and what do you think the it would cost to get everything to get the rb in the car and runnin?? i am still open on the swap though...the sr swap is still very possible for me. now that my valve seals (i believe) are goin out, i mite get the sr since it is cheaper then do more mods to it as i go.

there's the rb20det, rb25dett and rb26dett.

i would say the rb20 is not as potent as the sr20. i think if i remember right the rb25 is easier to find and cheaper than the 26
but not much
they are both around 5k i think
and you have to do a lot of custom work and use a different transmission cause your taking it out of an AWD car

i remember reading a post just recently from a guy who did the install, said it was a pain but worth it and he had his cousins in australia do a lot of research for him cause they have all those cars over there

RB20DE, RB20DET, RB25DE, RB25DET, RB26DETT and some even make hybrid motors called the RB30DE or some even put turbos on em.

There may be a new swap soon.

In the JGTC, most of the teams will swap out the engine in favor of a different engine. The engine has to be from the same manufacturer. Companies like toyota swap out the 2JZ-GTE from the supra in favor of the 3S-GTE because of it's lighter weight and a better weight ratio for the body. Anyways, Nissan is known for always using the same engine in the car that it comes with from the factory. In these 2002 JGTC races, most of the skylines were powered by VQ30DETT motors. That will most likely be the engine that the next GTR comes with.

I have Skyline front clips for sale. They are all GTS models. That way they are rear drive only. Easy to swap.
I have 2 RB20's and a RB25 for sale. The RB20's go for $2,500 and the RB25 is $3,500.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,
Robb

PS, I have other JDM stuff for sale also. E-mail me for the list at
