1997 Eclipse RS oil leak

i was thinking about buying a 97 eclipse rs. it says that it leaks oil when it is being driven but not when sitting (not sure if this includes while it idles). they say it doesn't burn oil it leaks it through the flex pipe. if the flex pipe is anything like in my 96 stratus it would be an easy fix. does their oil leak problem sound accurate?

here's a link if you want to take a look:

i emailed them about further info and i know i would have to do a 120,000 mile tune up. the door lock i could probably fix and turn into remote locks

If oil is leaking into the exhaust, that's a problem. Could be a couple things, such as bad head gasket, bad valve seals/stems, or even a ring problem. There is no way that oil gets in the exhaust. It just doesn't go there, so you may have a bigger problem on hand with that one.

alright, thank you. thats what i was assuming, just not hoping. i figured if the flex pipe was the problem they would have fixed it rather than pour a quart of oil in the car every week. i might still look at the car, but i don't want to buy a project at this moment. thats what my corsica is for...
