engine mounts

I know stiffer engine mounts are good for torque and stuff ,but r they like noticable?

Yes. If you're going to be doing any performance mods at all you need to start with the poly motor mounts.

yes they are noticeable, as soon as you start the car for the first time your dash will rattle like an 85 ford escort

Thats only in the older cavs. The ecos dont rattle much more then when you put an after market exhaust on.

Turbotechracing.com has newer style upper and lower mounts, they're solid and they're supposed to reduce the vibrations. The solid upper mount has been out for awhile now and has gotten nothing but A+ reviews, the lower mount have oval poly bushings rather then circle bushings, those are being testing out now and should be released soon. However, these TTR mounts are alot more expensive then the standard poly mounts.

I'll have my old upper mount incert up for grabs in the next week or so....

Oh i beg to differ. I have an ecotec, ttr mount which has a 4" round urethane bushing and it rattles the f**k o0ut of the car, idling with the ac on is especially bad

Im not useing tts mounts. Ive got rks. Also, the 5spds rattle more then the autos thanks to tranny mounting/ammount of play.

5 speeds should rattle less due to a higher idle than the auto's and its the lower mount which causes all the vibs. They never bothered me and the mount has been broken in by now so its very minor vibs. I got the TTR upper becuase a) it looks cleaner b) everyone has been giving very good reviews over the incert.

... we shall see.

the motor is also louder where it's resonating through the body.

Support it with a jack from below while doing the upper...

just loosen the bolts and slid it into place?? and do ne one got ne pics and which way they go in there it would be great

did you not get instructions with the new mounts? throw a jack underneath best on the bracket for the lower mount instead of on the oil pan. unbolt the four bolts for 2.4 5 for 2.2 and remove the old one and slot the new one in

unless it's an insert then remove the mount take it apart and go from there
