Hey guys,
I know i have problems with my serpintine belt, i have a new one just need to a small space where i can go without a car. However the past week its been in the high eighties here, and i've had to run the AC. Sometimes when i start the car up, the emergency brake, and ets light is on. Sometimes when i start it up i have no response in D ( yes an auto ). So i had to turn off the car and reset it. Is this just because with the AC the belt is running more, so its just doing this? or is there another problem. Thanks

Hm, i'm running my 97 2.2 on a pretty loose serpentine belt, not to the squeeling stage, but close. I've been running the AC because its been hot, and when i turn on the car, sometimes it tells me that my e-brake is on, and ets light is showing too. I put on the e-brake, take it off. The lights stay on. I turn off the car and they sometimes go away. This is the first time this has ever happened. Also twice already turning off the car to get the mail, then turning it back on within a minute, i have no response in Drive, the car turns on, hear the engine, put it in drive, push the gas. Nothing happens i start rolling back. Any ideas? is it just the bad serpentine belt?

no that isn't the serp belt. to be honest and don't want to worry you but it sould worse then that. id the trans shifintg into d or the selector just moving and nothing else. the light could be quite a few things. it's quite odd, and will be very hard to diagnose over the interweb. you might want to find someone to take a look at it in the metal. the belt shoudl really get lose they have a tensioner that maintains the taughtness of the belt.

soory should have read, is the trans actually going into drive, not the selector just saying so?

well the times that it did it, i believe it did, i put it in neutral and slightly rev'd it, it rev'd..... put it back into drive, and nothing happened. Idk it hasn't happened much, but im just happy i was behind my friend/neighbor when it happened not in front.. because i rolled rather far
