Oh boy! My 2002 Elantra (black) is having paint problems and the local dealer is not giving me that good of service. The clear coat is bubbling off the metal parts of the car, but not the plastic parts. The dealer told my wife when she brought it in that I must be an arc welder and parked it too close to my work or maybe someone at her work tossed chemicials out the window on it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT CRAP!?

Take it in to a bodyshop for an estimate and also ask loads of questions. Ask them what might be the problem. Dealers will go to great lengths to make sure you're not gonna get too sweet a deal. If worse meets worse, you *could* try to get the makers (if it's under warranty?) involved?
But either way, get a second opinion.

I had the same problem with the hood on my '02 (silver). Took it to the dealership and they buffed it smooth and haven't had that problem since. You can kinda see some swirl marks if you intentionally look for them, but other than that it looks good.
