fog lamp SWITCH stuck on

Hey,

I'm new to the board. I have been browsing it for a long time though.

I have a 1991 Jeep and I just replaced the fog lamps on it because they were shot.
The problem is this:
Once I ground the switch, it stays on (with that little red light in it) and no matter what position the switch is in (on/off) the switch stays on...
This is obviously going to run my battery down to zero over an extended period of time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the switch is stuck? The contacts inside it could have worn out and broken off.

I believe the lamps have a relay and do not run directly off the switch, if oe, look in the relay panel. Under the hood?

as with all electrical diagnostics, you have to poke around with a multimeter and get readings before we can really help you (and if you trace power all the way through, you don't need help)

But I have personally seen the stock switches fail a decent amount, but that is only as a point of reference. It should still be tested before condemning it

I have to assume the switch is crap...because the last switch I had was fine...(long story short, I replaced everything because I had lamps before so its the same setup)...

I'd think you could test it with any switch of a similar rating. There's all kinds of toggles at Walmart for about a buck.

I think I might have created 2 circuits.
I grounded the lights themselves so by grounding at the switch a second time I force constant power to the switch itself???
or something along those lines...

All I can figure out is that there is now 2 seperate grounds so I'm leaving off the switch ground...

assuming its the same as the systems I've played with, you are correct, the switch is grounding the ground side of the relay
