Fan switch

2000 Tahoe fan switch only works on settings 4 and 5. One, two and three do not allow fan to blow any air. I understand that there is a resistor somewhere that is the likely problem and can be tested. Anyone know, specifically, where it is, and how to get to it? This is an identical problem in my sons 2004 Avalanche. So I might be fixing two.

the resistor is located on the passanger side underneath the blower motor housing. usually held in by 2 screws. (near where your feet are under the dash) you will see a black blower motor cover , it is next to the blower motor. the resistor is $35 at GM. hope that helps

Thank you for your help. I never would have found the fan resistor. It's pretty easy to get to when you know where to look for it. Plan to order the part tomorrow. Let you know if it's a fix. Thank you again for your help!

Knewman you are the man. Picked the part up this afternoon, $50.78, got home and put it in....and the fan selector works on all speeds. Thank you for your help. As you said a few screws to remove the kick panel and two screws holding the resistor on. Saved a few bucks on labor so I can put more gas in the boat and head out fishing for Stripers and Fluke. Thank you again!
