Squirrelly Odometer

I replaced my positive battery cable side mount bolt today and after I reconnected the battery I noticed my Odometer, which had read a little over 114000 miles, now said "0" and was set to Kilometers. I called the dealer and he said "press the "english-metric" button on the middle of the dash to convert back to miles. Went outside feeling stupid until I looked at the dash and found no button there. Odometer/trip odometer button doesn't seem to do anything either. So now I have a 1998 Intrigue with 60 kilometers on it.:banghead: Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

leave it: you just added a few thousand dollars of value to your car.

The only thing you can do is get the odometer fixed and have them put a sticker with the approximate original miles on the car. While you could lie and say it had fewer miles to try and increase the value, you also have to remember that no dealer will touch this car since you can't verify the miles. Not sure how many people would buy a vehicle with a broken odometer.

That's just the thing.... It is working fine now,(even though it is measuring in Kilometers) It just zeroed itself. I just had the oil changed, so I have a good record of the recent reading before this happened. I'm just wondering how to get it switched back to "Miles".

Time to check the owner's manual... I'll post if I find anything it later tonight.

Checked the owner's manual and it should measure miles OR kilometer not either or. I have a 2000 Intrigue. I'm not sure if they changed the speedometer cluster from 1998.
