Eliminate Rear AC?

Nice forum... lots of issues already solved through the search mechanism. However I have been doing some searching for an answer to my question with few results so a post was in order.

I have a 99 tahoe with rear air. The rear lines are leaking and it cost big bucks to repair. I'm wondering if I would eliminate the rear AC by cutting and soldering the rear lines near the front and recharging the system accordingly thereby only having the front AC operational?

Any insight, etc is much appreciated.
