Odometer question

I have read on this site and another Jeep forum site that the electronic od's on an 01 Cherokee can be reset to actual mileage when it is wrong.
Assuming you can document the discrepancy, can a Jeep dealer legally change the od to the correct mileage? I called my local Jeep dealer and the question seemed to stump the service manager, which I take to mean is not a good sign.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.:smooch:

Why does that site look illegal? Jeep can do this, they order the cluster with the mil. you have.

Thanks for the reply. But I have to agree with VMAC, this site looks like a come on and quick way to part with $275.00.
I still haven't heard back from the Jeep dealer I called but will continue to pursue this and let you guys know what I find out.

Well thats what i thought when i first saw it BUT they are PayPal verified and im sure if they had any issues paypal would have cut them off from there account and all the money Plus if you charge it and something does happen then you can dispute the charge you can probably find a od repair shop in your yellow pages that can help with your problem

Here's what I found out. Under Michigan law, it is ok to set the od forward only, not back. Mine needs to be rolled back about 18k miles to be correct.
In any event, the Jeep dealer I talked to told me even if I wanted to buy a new dash they could set the right mileage with the proper documentation. The cost? A smoooooth $900.00 just for the dash + labor.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll just explain the difference when I sell it, if that even happens.:nono: :screwy: :banghead:
