Hello.
I am looking for people who have either a Borla, GReddy SP2 or a GReddy EVO2 exhaust on their Eclipse. I'm really at a tossup between the three and need some input. I want a deep sound, I don't want anything ricey, but I also want something that's going to give me more power obviously!!! Thanks for the help.

Well, out of those three it's kinda up to you. All three are going to sound nice, but the SP2 I dont think is "street legal" because I think it might be too loud. I believe it is made for race applications, AKA. has no resonators or anything. It's also Titanium and way more $$ than the Evo2 which is very popular for this car. I personally would say the Evo2 because a lot of people run that (myself soon will be included in that group)...as for HP added with a simple cat back...not really gonna notice it regardless of what setup you run. A good set of long tube headers will give you the most HP gains from exhaust, even if you run long tubes on a stock cat back.

PS. Try searching this forum a little more before you post a simple question like this because the answer to this question could be found in multiple posts on this forum. Welcome, and good luck!

FYI The Greddy exhausts will ONLY fit the cali spec cars. So if you have a 2000 or 2001 you need to check 1st. The SP2 is almost a near stock exhaust. Stainless not Titainium. VERY quiet. Most bang for your buck would be Long Tube Headers though.

Well that's kinda lame that a catback isn't going to give me any power, but its a good thing to know that with any exhaust I buy, I'm going to get about the same amount of HP from each. I agree with most of the postings when they say websites just say what they want you to hear...Do you really think that the Borla 14906 really gives a 7-15% increase then? :nono:

Doubt it. Unless you plan on going FI (Forced Induction). The stock piping with a less restricive muffler is the route to go. Just find a muffler you like and weld it on in place of your stocker.

I'm definitly going to stick with being naturally asp, because i believe that the car can still be decently quick (Whomping on those ricey civics:lol: which can pretty much be done with a stock 3G) if i get some headers and new cams, but if I put a muffler on my car, I might get that shitty rice sound, LIKE those civics. The thing is, I hate to buy a $500 exhaust just for sound....:banghead:

I have just a muffler on the 4banger. (4 Cyl.)
Dosnt sound ricey at all. No Rasp whatsoever.
I have a generic can. So a can on yours would sound fine. IMHO Apex N1 is nice. The car will feel more powerfull and you wont lose your lowend.

Did not know that about the SP2, must be thinking something else. As for the Greddy only fitting cali specs, this is only partly true. If you go through RRE (road Race Eng.) then they will weld the O2 sensor on and reposition the catalytic flange on there if you need it as long as you let them know for no additional cost.

Also from what I've read the average muffler shop only charges about 40-45 bucks to put the EVOII on the Fed. Spec Eclipses. Considering the trouble I had getting those rusty nuts off, it's well worth it.
