Hey guys.....quick question. Got a nice little leak around the oil pan area...matter of fact...the pan is dented a little from the dear I hit 2 years ago....(the dear looked far worse....trust me) Question is.....should I try to get up to the tranny shop and put a new oilpan gasket on this dude while the tranny is out? I assume the motor has to be lifted anyway. Would this be a good time to deal with the oil pan while it is up on the rack? I know the guy doing the tranny....he MAY let me do it. Just a thought.....

It would help to include year and model, but I would say yes. It would be much easier to do the oil pan gasket while the trans is out and it's on a hoist, regardless of what year and engine your car has.

Yep...sorry Rich. Forgot about that. 98 GT 3800. Long time no talk to...good to hear from you. A buddy of mine is doing the work on the car (he is a tranny guy)....he said he would swap the gasket for me...no problem. He also mentioned since he was dropping the pan doing a rear main seal.....prolly a good idea to let him huh?
