’85 K10 Won’t Idle…

Hey Guys,

I've got an '85 K10, 350, 1405 600 CFM Edelbrock Carb, approx. 8,000 miles.

I had to let it set for about 2 1/2 months and now this thing wont idle. I bought it just prior to letting it set but it ran perfect before. I had to put cadilitic converters on it to pass state inspection but it ran perfect even after placing them on. So far I've put some HEET in the gas tank and some carb cleaner. I've drove it about 60 miles now and it is still not wanting to idle. What suggestions do you guys have for me? Also, how much should I expect to pay to have the carbarator cleaned and adjusted?

Thanks again for your input.

just rebuild it. i'm about to have to do mine. edelbrock sells an overhaul kit for these performer series 600cfm carbs at pep boys and auto zone. they come with instructions, and it's fun to take 'em apart.

Rebuild it!? Its brand new...

What I did do is replace the fuel filter, checked for any leaks by using a quick mist of carb cleaner to the outside of the carb while running. (No change in rpm noticed) Pulled the idle mixture screws out and cleaned the idle circuits with a quick burst of air. I also sprayed some carb cleaner directly into the carb. To do all this I had to adjust my idle set up quite a bit to keep it running. After I did all that I drove it about 60 miles and every so often getting out and adjusting the idle down along with tuning the idle mixtures. I've got it going quite nicley now. I have the edelbrock 1405 600CFM carb and I'm looking into putting the bolt on electronic choke on to ensure a good start/idle when cold.

As always, thanks for the help.

Sorry, forgot a few things...

In the end I think my gas played the major role in my truck not wanting to idle. But also, the new cadiliac converters may have added to the idle mixture to be adjusted.

i didn't remember the part where it said 8,000 miles. sorry.
sounds like you got it handled, though.
i was thinking about putting on my electric choke, but i haven't gotten around to it.
