Writing?

Anyone here ever sit down and write: lyrics, poetry, stories, etc...

I tend to do a little poetry from time to time... I'm usually depressed when I do it, so it's usually pretty dark. Though most of my writing is figurative anyway.

Anyone care to share?

I write songs which turns out to be poetry. Don't do it a lot though. My lyrics usually suck, so I turn it into a poem then. And no, I'd rather not share.

Here's one I wrote a few weeks ago, I dedicate this to my daughter and the long custody battles that lie ahead. It's titled "Perilous Day"

Oh what perilous day lay forth me?
What sting may you bring yet separation
How your anger breaketh my heart
How your scorn burneth alive my insides

Oh what warm embrace hath I missed
What happiness hath I not engaged
How your touch resides so far from mine
How your smile forsakes my soul

Oh but forlorn and longing hath my being
What I do have, thy memories are faint
How spacious my empty heart may be
How long the days in between your presence

Oh what perilous day lay forth me,
Yet the few I bear til my heart melts again.

I've started reading more stuff lately. Have you ever read Charles Bukowski's powems or writings? He's the man. I'm reading a book he wrote called "Women". It's about all his sexual experences with women from the time he started writing. Funny as hell. He's right up there with Hunter S. Thompson in my book!

Lol, I'll have to check him out...

Man, the only way I'm going to keep this thread alive is to keep posting, but I'm gonna run outta poems, quick... lol

Here's another. This one is a bit twisted(blunt), but it's figurative (and no it's not about suicide).

The Tragedy of it all

In you walk, knife in hand
Just in time to save me again
With that thought, here it begins

I slit my throat
while cutting the rope
That held me so high above the floor

The drips that drop
The blood that blots
Tells me I’ll rot, from the inside out

Behind this face
I hide a place
Of darkness and despair

Inside my soul
There is a hole
That leaves me so empty

Now, my body limp
Of all the things I’ve quit
I’d say life was hardest of all

The tragedy of it all is that you see too late
To save what you create
But in sadness you watch it fade away

Swing Thy Blade

Swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As thy edge rips through my flesh
And thy taunting dashes my spirits

Oh, swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As thy thoughts invade my porous mind
As thy fear instills itself within my veins

Swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As thy spare no organs within my being
As thy forget no trespasses

Oh, swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As thy tongue tears apart my honor
As thy hatred destroys me existence

Swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As I near death, no turning back
As I turn round to see thy face

Oh, swing thy blade, and sing thy caustic lullaby
As would Brutus
