me and my brother often have discusions about this issue, im only 18 my brother just turned 16, it is not a big age difference but at the point im in you start to see alot of wierd things about how some people react when they see some body or a group of a diferent race. We both agree on it being the most useless and ignorant feeling out there. It eats me up it fucking enfurates me and when i get to disccuss it my arms start twitching, some body explain to me why do this happens why people teach this to their children, my brother ignores it, to him there is no color bounderies and it is the same to many other kids but as soon as they start going into the real world us the fucked up ones that know it all start influencing them and eventually we change thier mentallity and the wonderfull world where this kids live is eventually destroyed, the feew ones that stick with their believes get shut down till eventually they give up and decide to stop fighting. The perfect world is grownig under our noses we are just steping on it.

I agree with you 200sx, Racism is the thing that pisses me off the most in this world. We have political partys in Australia that run their campains on thinly discuised racism. I argue with my brothers a lot about it because where they live there are race related problems and they tend to blame the race rather than the individuals:smoka:

Most of the world's social problems are only skin-deep. That's stupid.

it is true, my concern right now are people with arabic ancestry, with this terrorist attacs all the ignorance that lies within the american people its bount to come out. i feel realy sad i fear for my dreams, moving to the US was my greatest happiness and right now my greatest sadness. We are going to go to war and everithing seems to come to an end, still it is not my nature to give up on what i believe and untill i find my self with a bullet in the head i will keep on fighting for what i want.

im from clifton new jersey in the US, there is not much racism here either but from time to time you see this little spurts of ignorance and it realy gets to piss you off, an example would be if i go to a white party with my black friends it wont take long before some body comes and "politely would ask them to leave" wich is just bullshit. Most white kids treat me different than my black friends because they where first ones i started talking to when i moved to this country. I realy dont understand why they do this, i mean you wouldnt now that im spanic unless you talked to me other wise im darker than some of my african american friends . I wish i could understand what drives this kids to treat other people differently.

People are prejudiced because of what they've been taught. Education and tollerence will be the only thing to make racism and every other kind of ism an isolated thing.

I agree.. Parents spend to much time telling the kids this and that, to have the kids get a false sense of security and think life is perfect. Granted you dont want to scare the kids so bad that they dont want to leave the house. I think we as a society just dont want to accept the fact the life isnt all flowery and happy, and we spend to much time sugar coating the truth.
Now on the topic of racism... All it is, is narrow minded people that have been brought up to believe that a certain race or culture is bad. Then they hang around with people that believe in the same thing an never have a chance to see what its like being in a different race or culture to see how much a like they are, and they dont want to either. Its sad but thats just how people are.

My dad is somewhat racist, not towards black people or spanish people, but he told me that everybody in afganhistan should die, he said everyone there is a dirty savage.... i don't agree that everybody there is like that, but i agree that most of'em are
maybe we're just saying this because we're agree because of what we happened

If you were raised, being taught that red was blue, but your blue, is mine, and the majority of everyone elses red? Does that mean you are wrong? Should you be persecuted because of it?

Wednesday, the day after the horrible attacks, I heard this story from the teacher of the class:
3 black kids sat together in English. Previously, one had been in a different class and he had just transfered in. Any way, these 3 kids were sitting next to a white kid. The white kid politely raised his hand and asked the teacher if he could move. The teacher responded yes, but wanted to know why. The kid said, "It's getting to dark over there."
When I heard this I was shocked. I realize that there is racism everywhere, but here in my classroom right after that national terrorist attack. I was "flabbergasted."

maybe he was just joking? they could have been friends?
like this one time me and a friend were sneakin out, and one of our black friends was standin under the window.. my friends like "next time bring a flashlight, i can't see your black ass at night!"
it was funny for all of us, just jokes
but if he didn't know them, he's a messed up kid that needs help.... if somebody said that at our school, those guys would be waiting for him after class with a couple friends, if you know what i mean :D

I don't like that saying, "Be color blind. Don't be racist." Color DOES matter, but it should not be a point of shame. A person's skin tone is one way of showing their rich heritage. There is reason to celebrate your heritage. I prefer, "Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight." (From Jesus Loves The Little Children) Acknowledging some one's race doesn't have to be negative. You can point out a person's color and it be a positive thing. Just make sure you don't make their color a point of seperation. Make it one of UNITY! :D

Exactly. What I've learned in my 36 years is it is how you deal with it that matters cause it ain't going away but there are still lots of good people out there and a few bad apples can't ruin life for us all.

Plus, you cant help but notice that someone is different. This will usually result in you treating them differently, at least for a while.
Of note: On TV, you notice black people less then you do in real life. Kinda weird, but its true.

When I watch TV, I dont differentiate between white and black people much (like Carter on Spin City). In real life, it is impossible to not notice someone is black. Its weird, but the TV is different.
