Stumped!

I have a 97 1500 5.7lt 4x4. Latley it has been diying on me. every thing shuts of, wheel locks and it just rolls. i come to a stop and have trouble starting it, i give it gas and rev the rpm's untill it stays alive and then take off again, usually with no problem. I took it to a mechanic who replacedthe fuel filter plugs distributor cap and rotor put in some chemical cleaner and charged me way too much. I picked it up and drove it to work with out any problems. When i was leaving work it died and i had trouble starting it. when i got it home i tried to have it die on me again but it worked fine any suggestions? Thank you:banghead:

When it dies and will not start do you have spark and fuel pressure, 1st step in the diagnostics. What do you mean everything shuts off?

If everything, like gauges, are shutting off, then you need to check both ends of both battery cables for corrosion or a loose connection.
