Well this forums been dead for a while.

I've finally started going to the gym. Can anyone point me to a good Whey Protein and other things that can help me build mass. I'm around 5'10" and weigh 140. Body type would be small frame. I've already felt like I've lost weight.

I eat a lot healthier now. Pretty much chicken for lunch, sometimes twice while I'm at work. Lots of fruit, and veggies. Dinner can vary, but I'm eating around 6 times a day.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

If youre looking to put some weight on have an Ensure shake with every meal. Its expensive though, theyre like $7 for a 6pack. They taste suprisingly good though.

I did that with a steady 5 day gym schedule for about a month and went from ~165 to ~175. Then I stopped buying Ensure cause I couldnt afford it :( Weight stays on though. Definitely helped build muscle mass.

Thanks Double-0.

I ended up discussing this with my roommate last night. He's ripped up pretty good. He told me to start eating chicken or lean beef (really any high protein food) at least 3-4 times a day along with a veggie or fruit. He really recommended that I eat that 4-5 times.

He said it's tough and you get sick of it, but because of my body type and very fast metabolism I need it to keep my weight up.

This week he's started back on his old routine since he started flabbing up being sick and not eating right.

Thanks again.

Cretine body building supliment.

It is very expensive and makes you very thirsty, but you will turn into a beast.

Wal-mart brand whey protein. Cheap and good.

Creatine works great too

most whey proteins are good quality product. i like one called Iso-pro (there's another one called Iso-gold, it's almost the same but i find it tastes better and it has less sucralose) it's got alot of protein and few carbs. in your case you'll probably want to get a weight gaining shake if you can, since you probably have a fast metabolism and you'll need the extra calories to keep the muscle on. if you're eating that much chicken and beef you probably won't need any extra protein from shakes, but i'd suggest replacing some of those meats with a shake instead. shakes are alot easier to carry around and alot easier to eat when you're in a rush.

as for creatine, it won't do anything for you until you get your diet and workout schedule working right. once you get into a good routine and have a good working diet and you find you aren't making gains quickly enough, then try creatine. the problem with creatine is that some brands don't have any of the active chemical in it (creatine monohydrate or something like that) because it decomposes easily or something. i was reading on a few websites (what a reliable source for information eh) and some studies showed that a good portion (not sure what it was but it was high enough) of the creatine products contained none of the chemical you're looking for.

another thing about creatine is that it's not proven to work. i believe it can be beneficial to some people but not everyone reacts well to it. i've known some people that have gone on creatine and nitrics and that have made good gains, but they also altered their diets at the same time so you don't know what gave them the results. i also know some people who went on them and didn't notice any gains, or any accelerated gains. and another two people took nitrics and creatine and felt stronger, got a bigger pump, etc. but weren't making any increase in mass or anything, and once they went off of them were just as strong, could lift just as much weight, etc. (well until one of them started doing cocaine and lost 30lbs).

anyways if you do decide to use creatine, make sure you only use the recommended ammount and make sure you drink lots of water. it causes lots of water retention in your muscles so they may get larger very quickly because of that, and you may notice they're a bit softer than before, usually not significantly but some people don't like it.

hope this helps.

Yes, definately stay hydrated when using creatine. Because of the retention, some people have gotten kidney stones. Never had a kidney stone, but I have heard that they are not fun.

My wife has been in charge of my diet lately, as Im building mass also, before I get back into my racing, so I have a more solid base to begin with etc. Has me on an eat til you can't diet, and protein shakes. Extremely effective too. As far as protein powders and any other supplements go, it's usually MUCH cheaper buying in bulk. Go for those big buckets.

yeah, if you look online they're much cheaper and if you look at the large bins you save alot compared to the small ones. i think with my protein i would save about $20 with the big one compared to buying two small ones. the problem is that i don't really use it anymore because i'm dieting and therefore only really get my protein with my regular meals because the protein shakes add too many calories to my diet (i want to get all my essential nutrients while i'm dieting so i stay as healthy as possible).
