serious issues keeping the car running...

I have an 89 xt6. i picked it up from a guy who lived no more than a block from me for the last 10 years. The car, sadly to say, also sat there in a field the entire time. I needed a car and since my idiot friend decided to blow my pulsar up he opted to help pay for this one.
Right from the begining i knew i was taking on a job i had no rights getting into. just to get the car to fire up i had to replace the entire ignition setup, partially the reason it sat there to begin with. Next i had to drop the gas tank and throw on a brand new one because its amazing what half a tank of gas and 10 years will do to a car. Lastly the fuel pump. took 4 different trys but the automotive store guys finally sent me the right pump.
I Managed to fire it up and allow it to idle but whenever u engage it in gear it sputters out rather hard and starts jerking the car around. i went on ahead and replaced all the fuel injectors and filter, but without much change in performance. does anybody know what might be going on???? if so that would be great. if not im seriously considering blowing it up....

It looks like you have done almost everything!!!

Verfy the timing: timing belt could have jumped a tooth.

One more thought: how about distributor cap, wires, spark plugs?

I havent checked into the timing yet, but i did already replace all the spark plugs and wires. havent been able to locate a new distributor yet and even if i could it probably would cost me an arm and a leg.... litterally

thnx for the help tho

New distributors run well over 100 dollars. You are right. Try junk yard.

You still do not know for sure if you are going to need it.
I have seen threads on rebuilding distributors.

Go to www.ultimatesubaru.org and click on "older generation"

Good luck,

Sam

P.S. By the way there is a specific XT6 site. I think the URL is something like www.xt6.net
