Just Installed AEM cold air...

i'm rollin' a '02 SI..... but yesterday got my AEM cold air intake and strapped it in there.... i'm just gonna add some info in case, anybody gets the same deal.. tips: it makes an easier application when the battery is not in the way, as far as installing it... nothing has to be cut, not even the wheel well cover that seems to get in the way... just have to kind of force all the screws to fit... then the plastic will bend and stuff... for some reason, the AEM does not come w/ a coupler for the larger 3/4 breather hose, so I used the smaller breather hose, cut two inches and inserted it into the 3/4 to connect the two (NOTE: you must have an extra 3/4 hose clamp to use.. the spring clip does not work that well....), also the frame mount to secure the filter end has a nut w/ a plastic grommet that stops it from screwing all the way down... i suggest just adding a few washers in-between....
okay, now for performance wise... -- the car moves a little better, the intake is surprisingly efficient... there is a nice throaty sound around 5-6k rpm.... it sounds really nice! specially compared to the stock air box... supposedly dynoed.. the AEM creates about 5hp to the wheels -- this is dynoed by AEM...... but I think I do feel it.... so ... yup
if this bores anyone then sorry but.... i'd like to help anyone out... and every install i get, i plan to post in this forum only.... but if this is gonna be annoying then i won't do it...
next project -- headers and exhaust...

I'm still waiting on my damn AEM Air Bypass Valve to arrive.
My AEM CAI came with a coupler for the breather hose.
This is gonna be my first performance modification and I'm actually gonna try to do it myself(scary). Well a friend is gonna help.
By the way........
Once my webpage is up, I'll be posting How-To Do It Yourself Manuals with pictures and detailed instructions of every modification that I do. I plan on including all the tools you need and any other special information that the manufacturers conveniently forget to tell you.

I think you wasted your money on the by pass valve, its completely useless. Ive got a cold air intake and ive had 0 problems with it, and up here in canada the weather can get pretty bad at times. The by pass valve restricts the airflow coming in therefore it defets the perpose off having a intake.
P.s. Im gunna be doing the same kind of webpage also.

I'm down here in Charleston, SC and anybody who has ever been here when it rains knows that its hell.
The streets flood at low tide when it rains and if its high tide the you might as well just forget about it. I have seen many people go through engines like candy when they didn't have the bypass valve. The ones that did have the valve have yet to have any problems.
Down here the water comes up over the hood sometimes when you plow through a huge puddle.
I'm taking no chances with my baby and everyone down here who has one sings its praises. Having a CAI isn't gonna at to much horses anyways so its not that big of a deal to lose some of those.
I've got the webpage designed and finished. It's ready for the how-to's to be loaded as they happen on my car. It should be up tomorrow.
When you get yours up lets trade internet addresses.

I just bought my torque wrench and 27mm deep socket today. Damn that is an expensive wrench. Originally I was just gonna borrow one but because I am gonna need it to install strut bars later on, I figured that I would go ahead and buy one.
The link below has been the best link that I have ever found with help installing an AEM CAI
AEM Cold Air Intake Install (http://slacknet.nu/diy_aem_intake/index.html)
Check out http://www.7thgencivic.com its a great place. It has a ton of how-to manuals.
That would be great to start a web ring and link all of our pages together.

lol, i work on cars all day long and the only time we usually use torque wrenchs are for internal and external engine parts, otherwise tighten responsably, not tightening till ur fast turns red but not a little either... good luck...

quick.... i don't buy product just for a name..... nor do i tag up my car w/ stickers i intend as w/ my other vehicles before to remain sleeper.... i purchase a product for it's dedication..... First off, in designing a CAI... it is not just a big tube flexed in any direction that will fit. There are companies that actually put forth effort in designing maximum potential product.. not just product. i do not care for sloppy copies who just mold metal because they can easily copy someone else's design/nor do i find interest in paying them money for said product... and no offense taken.. but honestly i'd rather give money to those who i find deserve it-because if there were no original there wouldn't be any copies........
