97 Accord - meaning of codes

My 97 Honda, 4 cyl., 153,000 miles, started idleing real rough. It has thrown 3 codes:

P0172 - System too rich
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire
P1399 - Manufacturer Control Ignition System or Misfire

The one I am not sure about is the P1399 one.

Any ideas?

Well I went back and looked at my records and see that I have not changed out the plug wires. I bought the car used with 104K miles. I did the timing belt, plugs, dist. rotar. Since the misfire was cylinder #2, I swapped the #1 and #2 spark plug wires. I cleared the code and drove up the street and the engine light came back on. Read the codes, and now the misfire is on cylinder #1.

So off to the auto parts store in the morning to get a set of wires. Any particular brand I should look for? Just everyday driving for a college student (my daughter). Thanks...

Truthfully I'd go with Honda OEM wires if you can stomach the price...aftermarket wires never seem to fit as nice or last as long...

I am pretty satisfied with NGK. They are pricy as well but still a little cheaper then OEM.

That makes sense, as NGK is the OEM wire supplier to Honda....

Well the only brand that I could find readily available were Autolite, Bosch, and Borg Warner, and then the parts houses name brand.

I went with the parts house name brand which has a lifetime warranty. They were only $36. The lengths were really good.

My thought was hate to spend a fortune not knowing 100% that it would fix the problem so I went with the cheaper solution. It did solve the problem and I guess when they go bad, will go back and either get another set free or talk to them about getting the NGK's, with me paying the difference. The NGK's aren't stocked at the stores...other wise I probably would of got them.
