98 Contour Blower Motor Fuse / Relay

My sister has a 1998 Contour 4 cylinder zetec, along with fixing other problems I noticed the Blower Motor isn't running, and the Cigarette Lighter isn't working. She either lost of misplaced the manual & Haynes Manual I bought for it last time I had to work on it. I was wondering if someone could look up what fuses / relays run the blower motor, and if they also power the cigarette lighter. If you could give me number for the fuse / relay, under dash or engine compartment box, and the proper size of fuse I would greatly appreciate it.

I have already used a test light to see if there is power going to the blower motor connector, there wasn't, so even though I know they have a problem with the blower motors in this car, I don't believe thats the problem this time since I don't get any power at the plug.

After checking the fuse & relay I was going to run a positive & negitive to the blower motor to test it, if the motor is still good where do I go from there? fuseable links? where are they located on this car?

Thanks in advance for any help ...

I am having the exact same problem with my 1998 ford contour. My blower in the compartment doesn't work nor does the ac. However, the cigarette lighter works just fine because I use that to charge my cell phone.

I went and bought replacement fuses for the blower, but the fuse isn't burned out.

There are two green 30 amp fuses on the lower column of the fuses. One to the left and one to the right. The one on the left, which is number 37, should be the right fuse.

Good luck - but my fuses are fine. I am suspecting this is a relay problem under the hood in the relay box.

let me know your findings and email me [email protected]

For further information, as I proceed into more troubleshooting, I have discovered a valuable link for you, it is the fuse box diagram - actually the full owner's manual for our cars:

https://web.msslib.dealerconnection.com/RightSite/getcontent/myfile.pdf?DMW_OBJECTID=09000c58800067e2

Go there to pages 115-118 and you will find the fuse box diagram. If it is not the fuse, check out relay R14 (third relay up from the top row of fuses) THIS may be the problem. I am now going to autozone to get that replacement relay. If this isn't the problem, I won't know what is.
