AC service

IHA 97 Malibu 2.4L. The AC is starting to run cool instead of cold. it has not been services in about three years. Are those kits at parts stores which flush, lubricate and recharge with R134a worth it? They run about $30 whereas a full service will cost in excess of $100.

They work, I've used them before. I used the big tall can that the
gauge comes with it. DO NOT :nono: connect this to the high side of the AC system. The high side builds very high pressure. Always be sure to connect it to the low side of the system.

You cannot just put freon in the system, how much is full? This needs to have the proper gages installed on the system and both pressures checked for a proper diagnosis.

This is R134a, not R12 (Freon)

Sorry maxwedge! I did not realize R134a was the new Freon.

I figured I would pickup one of the service kits at Napa or Kragen. It has the gauge.

Which line is the high pressure? I was told to connect it to the low pressure line.
