Hi Guys, I was wondering if any of you had this problem with a 4Runner 3.0 liter V6, The PSI is staying at 40psi constantly, my truck is alright when it's cold but after warming up just abit it starts idling very low and rough, it drops as low as 200-400 at times and eventually stalls. When you try to drive my truck it's constantly bucking and has almost no power at all, if you slip it in Neutral you can sometimes rev it up then slip in gear and be ok for a few minutes then it starts bucking hesitating and eventually stalls.
The thing is as soon as it stalls out, I just turn the key off restart it and it's ok for another few minutes. This has been going on for a month now and I am disabled and my 4Runner is my only means of transportation.
I've had it to the dealer and they say it's either the fuel pump or the wiring to the fuel pump. I have it at the mechanic I always deal with now and the Problem is if it was The Fuel Pump, wouldn't it do the hesitation bucking and stalling all the time ? As I mentioned if you turn the Key off and restart the truck it starts no problem at all and runs fine for a few short minutes.
I had the Mass Air Flow Sensor Replaced But that didn't solve the Problem.
I live in a rural area where theres only 1 toyota dealer for 100's of miles and a good mechanic is hard to find. I know my mechaic personally and he worked on Toyotas for many years and says he's never seen a fuel pump go on a Toyota Period. I was just talking to him and he says the voltage to the fuel pump must be ok because the PSI does Not drop Below 40 Psi if he takes off a vacuum the Psi Rises to about 42-44 Psi which is supposed to be normal.
He is going to check the relays and a wire connection for the fuel pump but other than that We Cannot Figure It Out ? If I put a New Fuel Pump in it and that turns out to Not be the Problem I have to keep the Fuel Pump which costs over $200. The Catalic Converter was replaced just over a year ago and looks fine.
Were really stumped by this Problem with my 4Runner and Any Help Would Be Greatly Apprecaited .
In the mean time I'm going bonkers being stuck in the house all the time with no vehicle :frown:
Thanks In Advance: Please Help If You Can Any Ideas ?

Here's a few things you might check:
Fuel contamination - water/diesel/bad gas
All electrical connections at the distributor, coil, alternator tight?
Check distributor for bad cap, rotor, play in shaft
Bad ignition coil, ignition wiring
Check intake manifold vacuum
Vacuum hoses for cracks, loose connections on either end
Check bolts on intake manifold for tightness - check gasket/replace
Check EGR valve for leaks
Check PCV valve for fit at both ends and function
Compression check - headgasket leak
Check ignition timing
Check your sparkplugs for color-oil-deposits - May be injector-related

Turns out it was the O2 Sensor, after spending a small fortune my 4Runner is working again. I thought I would pass this information along.
