On my Park Avenue, all I see is the speed (including "mph" or "kph"), turn signal indicators, high beam indicator and "check guages" message when needed (e.g. low fuel, etc). If I remember correctly, the Rendezvous also shows the radio information (station setting) in addition to what the Park Avenue shows...but I think that is all. I would check the owner's manual to be sure...it will have a section that will show what is shown in the display.
I don't have the HUD on our Rendezvous, but am very interested in adding it. The dash cover piece closest to the windshield would need to be replaced with the cover having the cutout, but that should be a simple remove/replace item. The windshield is special, though, having a reflective piece where the HUD projects...without it, you won't see the display. The windshield is kind of expensive, too...I just had the windshield replaced on the Park Avenue and it was way more expensive than a Park Avenue without HUD. There should be a location below the dash cover that the unit will fit in...I'm guessing that there would be no modifications to install the HUD, but I've never looked yet. What my main concern is whether the wiring harness is there. If it is, then I would suspect that you could plug in the unit and viola'...you have HUD. It would get real messy, though, if you had to splice into the wiring harness in order to install your HUD.
A side note, our Rendezvous had the rear view mirror that had the map lights, but was not automatic dimming. I went to a salvage yard and bought a mirror that was used in the Rendezvous (amongst other makes/models) and plugged it in and it worked...the wiring harness for the original mirror included the necessary wires for the auto-dim mirror option...so there's hope that the wiring harness for the dash may include a plug for the HUD, too. Cross your fingers!
One of these days, I will get adventurous enough to get up in there and check it out. If you do so, please let us know your findings. There have been others who have wondered the same thing.
Good Luck
