cleaning the hood

I would like to take as mutch of the engine and out of the hood as posseble, I just want the car to run and no extra stuff, I live in iceland and I don´t need to have the stuff that blows air to the exhaust (dont remember what it´s called) to keep the car legal ,

please tell me what I can take away without loosing some power

The car is a 1989 caprice with TBI
