I have a 99 1500 z71....some may remember my water damage issues from b4...New one now...Truck will fire up like it is brand new put it in gear and it will not shift into second gear. If I bring the rpms up then let off the gas it will shift hard into second. It almost feels like I am in 4x4 low...but only the rear wheels will spin if I give it juice...I have the electronic 4x4 selector but no lights are lite up and it will not shift from 2 4 or 4 low..any information would be great..the truck goes into the body shop this friday to get a new look I would like to have it running right by then..thank you in advance.

The PCM controls the shifting on a 4L60E. Inputs are throttle position, RPM and vehicle speed. If some of these inputs are wrong, the tranny may not shift right.
You best bet is to have it scanned with a tranny capable scanner while the problem is happening. This will help determine if the issue is shift solenoid, shift valve or mechanical issue. It will also tell you if any codes are currently stored for the tranny.

thanks...Someone also told me that if my Transfercase control module went bad it wouldnt send a signal to the pcm to let it know what drive you were in! Does anyone know if that is true at all?..I am gong to hook up the tech II sometime this week to see what is going on there..no service engine light is on though. Dont know if that matters at all.
