I've got a 1990 cherokee sport, it's the 4.0L I6. It's running very rough, idling shuddering, and dying on the road. It has new plugs/cap/rotor/oil change etc. It has oil coming into the air cleaner, and a ton of oil sitting on the rockers under the valve cover. It's not smoking out the back. What can it be? Please help me save my jeep!

The oil in the aire cleaner is probably caused by oil blowby from the CCA. Check the hose running from the back/top of the valve cover to the manifold for cracks or blackage. You might want to replace that whole assembly, only $22 dollars at dealer.

The rest of your problem could be serveral areas:

MAP sensor, IAC, TPS are the most common. I would start there with testing.

Not sure this is the problem, but a jeep mechanic that started his own shop fixed my problem. the car just ran bad at low speeds but a little better at high speeds. now one could figure out the problem except him. Anyway it was a stupid little hose on the fuel pump in the fuel tank that had shrunk and was sucking air. He replaced the hose on the pump For $90.00 and my 1990 jeep ran good again.

Hope this helps
