89 cougar digital dash

I am the proud owner of an 89 cougar. I am fixing it up for my daughter to drive to college and back. One of the problem I have noted is an intermittent display problem with the digital dash. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get another digital dash unit or is the old mechanical dash a direct replacment. Also when replacing the digital dash does the mileage stay with the old dash or the cars memory....
