what im wondering is whats the difference between the two, in general? weather that be looks,performance, or otherwise.

None.
GS had the leather option. It was basically small stuff. I think the GS offered foglights and the sunroof also.

GS has power windows & locks, the RS does not
GS has with sunroof, RS it was an option.
GS has with fogs, RS was an option
GS came with 16's, RS came with 14's
GS came with stock sideskirts, RS did not.
Not all GSs came with leather, my buddies 96 has cloth seats.

yeh mine has cloth seats to, i prefer them cause they dont burn my ass in the summer! lol

Also the rs has black side mirrors and door handles, GS has a power antenna, rear wiper, disc brakes in the rear. Im sure there is a little more but thats all I can think of at the time.

I'm sure it was an add-on. I've never seen an RS with power anything.

Didn't the RS with optional sunroof have power options ?
Also the GS has cruise control and RS doesn't seem to have it.
