My daughter's 98 Plymouth Neon has a crazy problem. After you run her car for a while & it gets hot then shut it off it won't start. There is a click in the firewall. After the car cools down it starts okay. The starter & solenoid were replaced, battery is fine, all terminals nice & shiney, starter relay & all fuses are good & all connections in fuse boxes greased with electrical grease. It doesn't do this all the time but a lot after the car gets up to a hot temperature.(The temperature is normal & the car is not overheating.) We are going nuts, we checked the cables & wiring & are lost on what to look for & check.

Have you checked the fuel pressure after it shuts off? The neon is known for the fuel pump overheating and shutting down. This usually happens, when there is less than half a tank of gas in the car.

have ya checked the mass air flow sensor that could be it too had a car that if it ran for a bit it would shut down then wait a few mins then it would start .

Today, after reading a private message, I changed the battery cables. I cleaned up all the connections again & used electrical grease on all connections. My daughter started the car & is using it, I guess only time will tell if this solves the problem.

'click' ? the things that keep your car running = injectors, fuel pump, plug..so i guess thats not much help but you gotta back-trace it..? click usually means auto-reset fuse. something heats up, draws more power..and it causes the circuit to draw too much power....auto-reset fuses 'click' as they go off.
