Tough Question.

:confused:My 2000 2 wheel drive is jering very badly. Sometimes at acceleration and and at other times when i slow down. The revs will go up extremely and then drop so drastically that my car will stall. I got 2 codes out of it and one said it was a vacuum leak and a bad EGR Valve. I have replcaed the valve 3 times now and the problem has not gone away.
Anyway, about a week ago and i read that most mechanics can't find the problem when they get both these codes on fords. I honestly don't know what this item is but i read a magazine that said that this particular item controls the amount of air for combustion. I thought it was something i could replace myself but it is something that has to be programmed. The problem with this thing is that with time it could accumulate carbon build up. I hav no clue whatit is or how it works, even just the name would point me in the right direction.:confused:

Any help? Remember, the codes were EGR Valve and Vacuum Leak.

Could you post the EXACT code numbers?? It makes it easier to chase the problem. EGR has about 12 different codes and each one means something different. There is no code for a vacuum leak. There are codes for a lean condition. Numbers would help a lot.

Check your O2 sensor, it might need replacing.

Sounds like a vac leak might be your biggest problem. A faulty EGR valve will only cause the problem you've described if stuck open and will be most noticeable at idle speeds. Heres what i recommend check for vac leaks with a water bottle spray vac lines theres also an elbow in the back of the throttle body that tears a lot. When you notice a change in RPM thats your problem. I personally like to do it with starter fluid it causes the engine to rev up which is more noticeable than when using water. Like way2old said having the specific codes helps a lot better, so if possible have them pulled them post them up.
