Help me with my project...

Okay, on monday, I will finally be picking up my D16y8 from the junkyard. It has been sitting on their shelf for 3 years and hass less than 8000 miles on it. My plan is to rebuild the engine over the winter and drop it into the car in the early spring. This is not something I have ever done before, so I'm counting on alot of help from you people.
I am planning on purchasing the 92-95 Greddy turbo kit (with intercooler package). Since the Y8 is almost identical to the z6, there shouldn't be any fitment problems. I believe this turbo kit produces between 5-10psi. I want to run at about 1 bar (7psi).
Other parts that I am planning on buying for the engine:
Lightened flywheel (actually, I want to see if I can just get an HF flywheel to fit the y8).
Lightweight pulley's
Adjustable cam-gear
Wiring harness from Dropshop.
MSD Ignition (I already have it, but it's not going to be installed until I put the new engine in).
So what else should I buy?
I know I'll need another ECU and dizzy? What combination of dizzy and ECU should I use?
What should I get to prep the engine for turbo? (If I'm only running 7psi, do I need to go with forged lower compression pistons? other stuff?)
What should I replace on the new engine? I'm planning on replacing all the gaskets and such, but I've never re-built an engine before, so I need to know what to replace or look out for... Like I said, the engine is barely used at all, but it has been sitting on a shelf for 3 years...
I know that there's alot of questions here, but ANY help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Mike T.

Isn't 7 psi equal to approximately .5 bar (a little less)? I always thought that 1 bar was equal to about 14.5psi...and 2 bar equalled 29psi. Anyways....the Y8 is an OBDII motor...so I'm assuming that you are going to try and make it OBDI. right? cuz i dont think that you want to have to have like 4 fuse boxes, etc. I know that you'll need to change the distributor to a z6 one, the ecu to the z6 one (P28 i think?)......and possibly the injectors to a Z6 one..? someone correct me if any of this is incorrect.

Yeah, Ami originally suggested I use the Z6 dizzy with the P28 ECU. Haven't heard about the injectors before though...
And, Kris, I don't know what you're talking about... never done this shit before :bloated:

Oh! Almost forgot!
I was gonna buy a helms manual, but should one should I get? Or should I get one for a 4th gen and one for a 6th gen?

Yes.
Bearings are the little metal tabs that go around the crank journals, on the rod. If that made sense. :bloated:

Thanks, that makes more sense. I thought you were talking about ball-bearings... :bloated:

well mike, the y8 is kinda turning out different than the z6. the whole injector thing. jer stuck the y8 intake mani on at the shop on wed. still using the a6 injectors but he said they didn't quite seat all the way down. he says the y8 intake mani feels less responsive than the a6. i haven't driven it yet (stupid busted foot). however riding shotgun, i can feel what he was talking about. on sunday he's gonna check all the vac lines and some other things. i'll let you know what he comes up with.
as for the flywheel...i think it's the 90-91 CRX Si that has the most surface area. you might want to e-mail jon ([email protected]) and pick his brain. at one time he took flywheels from all the different gens and compared them side by side.

Well, I remember someone saying they put a HF flywheel in their a6 (I think), and the HF flywheel was like 3-4 pounds lighter... I'd rather go that route than actually paying to have material machined from one.
So, are you saying I'd be better off using the y8 injectors? Or should I get some higher-flow injectors because of the turbo?

we just had this discussion like an hr ago. lol. i think turbo is my answer. you use 450cc ones. i'll be kissing the a6 bastards good-bye.
seriously, my best advice is to tell dropshop what you're doing. i'm gonna end up getting all my pipes welded by him as well as the hondata & p28 ecu. he'll tell you the best way to get what you want done.
