I have a 1999 Chevy suburban that I am trying to hook up an electric brake box but I can't see where to tap into the juice for the truck brakes to activate the box

With the amazing amount of free 350s out there, you should be able to find multiple running 350s in good shape that you can transplant in there for under $400. Many junkyards even have some running cars that you could test first before you buy and they often offer a 30 day warranty.

Or, for about $1200 you could buy a complete 350 that has been remanufactured and drop it in.

Given the really cheap prices on 350s, you'll get way more bang for much less buck converting as opposed to putting money in power parts for a 305. There is nothing wrong with the 305, but its small bores limit breathing. If you want to get more power for your 305 you could do an edelbrock intake and cam. The complete kit is about $500, but it will require either pulling the engine out or dismantling the whole front of the truck to change the cam, then you'll still need gaskets, and you'll have to drop the oil pan as well... and you'll still have an engine with smaller cubes and less power for more money invested.

For instance; these may not be close to you, but they are just examples:

anything in place of the 305 would be an upgrade. Not known for their performance, let us say

bolt-on parts for a 305 is kinda like putting duct tape over bailing wire. It might do something, but you're still bandaiding a bandaid. I know this is probably more in-depth than you want to do, but really, a 350 will drop in with half a days worth of work even for the unmechanically inclined, and the performance difference, even the most neutered 350, will be night and day to the 305.

i switched a 305 for a 350 once.
it's good times.
THEN you put the edelbrock top end on.
then you have fun.
