Functionality is really what you should be more concerned about, but I like the looks of 33's or 35's at the most. Combined with 4.5-6" of lift.

Is it stock?
If it is, the biggest tire you can expect to fit without major rubbing is 30"
My opinion is that 30s look pretty decent on most stock XJs.
