All of the exterior door handles on my 89 Wagon are real stiff and usually need to be pushed down or they will stay up after opening the door. This causes problems closing and locking the doors, etc. I have tried to lubricate these things without success. Where is the correct place to lube them, and what should I use? Thanks.

You might have to take the door panels off to get at the hinges, unless you dont mind the mess of trying to inject grease into the holes under the handle. White lithium grease works well, as does really any grease you would use on the chassis..hell, WD-40 (NOT a lubricant) will help or even some oil you may have..really anything.

Ah, there are holes under the handle that you can grease? I'll check it out. Thanks......

They arent really holes...and its kinda dumb to try, but there is space between the handle and door. Just take the panel off.

i had the exact same problem with my 90 civic when i got it. i took off the door panel and sprayed wd40 in all of the moving parts. i also stood there opening and closing the door until it got better. i had to repeat this two or three times. but now it works perfectly. good luck
