Hey guys, The lifters in the lumina are somewhat far from quiet in comparison to the ones in my g/f's grand prix se with the 3100. So some time in the next couple weeks, I was considering ripping down the lumina. I'd like to go as far as the head gaskets, and possably even put some stainless steel valves in if I can find anything like that for the 3100.
Where would you guys recommend to go for a set of lifters and a set of valves? Im going to use a felpro head gasket set, and replace all the valve guide seals also.
Another question, my lovely car was manufactured in canada, and complies to the emissions standards in all 50 states (california car), so its got a lovely air pump system, that now seems to be leaking exhaust. I can hear a psss psss psss while running, around the check valve on the front exhaust manifold. Also the car in general seems to be louder up front exhaust wise than usual. Any ideas where I could pick up a couple of the check valve set-up's that connect to the manifolds? Or maybe is it possable (shhhhh) to bypass that junk all together? Get some bolts for the exhaust manifolds and a vacuum cap for the intake manifold? Would that trip any codes?
Speaking of codes... I had the lumina in the shop at school the day my tire went flat (different story), and had a chance to hook up a tech 2. It seems to run alright i guess, kind of a loopy idle lately, but i didnt notice anything out of the ordinary other than the scanner listed that there were only 2 HO2S cross counts? Is that a little out of spec? Where and what kind of O2 sensors should I buy for it. I probably wanna replace them too. Thanks for all the great info thus far. Please respond soon so I can order parts if needed, and dive into it. I just want to get all this stuff done. At least in doing it will also replace the lower intake.

Also, would a set of 3400sfi heads fit on my 3100sfi block? Are there any differences?
Oh, yeah, the flat tire story. I got my monte carlo rims for a guy with brand new cooper cobra tires on them for 400.00. That was this time last year. So, a month ago they start construction on a road by my house I take to work everyday. On my way to work, my lumii starts pulling to the left. when I parked, I got out, walked to the back, (thinking a dragging brake) felt the wheel, was fine, walked up front, tare was very very low. Drove to the nearest gast station becuase I was sure it would be completly flat after my 10 hours shift. That night when I left, it was still full of air. Drove home, went to sleep, woke up bright and early, 6am for school, walked outside, FLAT TIRE, on the rim. So i quickly put the factory steel wheel on, threw the flat tire in the trunk, and left. Got to school, went to patch the tire, unmounted it, and found a big hunk of steel, sheet metel in my sidewall. So right im sitting on 4 perfect shape monte carlo rims, and 3 tires with like 6/32nds tread left. So im running the origonal factory rims, and going to fix the performance problems before I buy new tires. Ha Ha, long story, kinda pisses me off. Anyone want 3 good tires? Cooper cobras p235 55 16's? Cheap? Just pay for shipping!!!!!
