I changed the belts on my 97 SC riviera this weekend, afterwards the engine began to surge, light came on, p0171 - changed the sensor, still surges. the car has 214,000 miles and this was probably the first belt change. the new belts are shorter because they have not streched out yet, what can the problem be?
Also power locks in pass door do not work, wire problem, and sugestions?:screwy:

so you replaced the MAF sensor? and then the code went away?
i dont think the belts caused a problem unless a vac line was damaged in the change, and the only line near the belts is under the snout, routed behind the blower. btw dont cound on the belt streching too much, verify that the tensioners are not in the full lock position.
tell us more about the surging, like when it happens and is the a/c on or off?

kinda off topic , but my car surges every 2-3 seconds when the a/c is on. do you know what is causing this
