1995 GMC Jimmy

I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy SLS v6 4.3 2wd 149,000miles and my problem is this: after I changed my automatic transmission fuild and filter I drove it to work the next day while going home I had knoticed that the transmission wont shift into 3rd gear. then i replaced the 2 shifting sensors (which is the same part number)( 1 was bad ) I still get the same thing not shifting into 3rd gear. I tryed manual shifting and still is same thing. I get very little silver filings in the pan. I disconnected the possitive battery post to let the computer reset just incase it didnt reconize to shift. any help is appreciated thanks

Check the two oil pan bolts that go through the shift linkage bracket and into the transmission. If the bracket is not positioned correctly, the shift linkage will be out of adjustment.
If the SES (Service Engine Soon) light is on, what codes are stored?

I didnt think of that thanks I'll try that ---- what would be the correct postioning of that mount?
there is no trouble codes stored and the check engine lite is off. so that part is fine lol

The bracket uses the two most rearward holes.

I had checked the position of that bracket and it in the right spot as you say my service manual says the same location. I have noticed this though --- on the back of the tranny on the drivers side of the tranny there is a speed sensor and that seal all around it is wet can this cause this problem?

Just a note on it.
Always recheck the fluid level when good and hot or after driving about 20 minutes.
The sensor on back seep/leak if only a small seep will not hurt anything as long as the sensor is working.
Your need step should be to get it on a transmission capable scanner and check for codes and sensor operation.
A good transmission scanner will give you a lot of info on shifting and transmission operation.
If any codes post back codes.

You will need a high end high dollar one for that one.
The GM tech scanner and the better OTC scanners or
A good snap on [MT-2500] with the engine transmission capable cartiage and adapter for 1994 1/2 to 1995.
94 and 95 were a change over year that you need the spical adapter to read the pcm.
They are high dollar deals, some run over 5-10K $$$$
Unless you have a good buddie that has one.
For a one time test or check. I would suggest.
A good repair shop or transmission shop should have the scanner that will read out data and test it for you.
If you get any codes post back code no.

It'd be cheaper to just take it to a dealership. For those of us that don't have a career warranting such a purchase or the money to just throw at a piece of test equipment for limited use, it's easier for now to check the simple things like fluid levels and verifying shift linkage adjustments.
