Ford Pickup tire selection

My question is this: I have a 1999 Ford F150 2 wheel drive(with the limited slip differential) and live in RI. My current tires have about 70,000 miles on them and I feel should be replaced.
What should I replace them with? Currently I have Goodyear Wrangler AP tires on it. They seem ok for the driving I do - with some fairly long commutes, but I would like to know if there is anything better(esp. for winter snow conditions since I am often on the road during winter nights).
Any better tires available at a reasonable cost?

I would suggest the Bridgestone Dueler HL or for a little bit more aggressive tire the Dueler A/T
