Am Radio Question

When my car is running, I have little or no AM reception. When I shut vehicle off the radio works fine.Not as bad with FM stations but it still happens on FM too.I know it has something to do with the ignition system .what is the fix..recently tuned up at the dealer.......I use AM to listen to sports scores after I leave a game early .(New York area ) LETS GO METS
