my venture has no cold ac, matter of fact when ya push the button the compressor doesnt kick in, is there a way of by-passing the switch to make the compressor to kick in to make sure it works,

Most probably your refrigerant pressure is too low....meaning some leak. Anyway, best way to test for that is to unplug the low pressure sensor on the refrigerant line and short the leads in the plug. If compressor starts, it proves loss of refrigerant...or faulty sensor, the latter being rare, the former being unwanted. adding refrigerant just retards the actual issue of finding the leak.

One can also run 12V direct to the compressor clutch coil or through the compressor relay, but all it would prove is the compressor clutch work....which it does most probably, but you would be sure of it. I do not have the specific diagram for the 2001...these sensor switches use to be on the A/C lines in the vincinity of the schrader valves. There might be a high pressure and a low pressure switch . IN doubt, bypass both.

I agree with LMP - probably low refrigerant, because of a leak.

If you still have the original condenser, check out the following page to see what happened to mine.
