I have a 2001 Buick Regal and the fuel gauge has stop working. It registers full most of the time and then sometimes it goes to empy and them goes back to full. Any idea what may be the problem?

A common problem is the fuel level sending unit which is located with the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank. You can replace the level sending with a kit from AC Delco without having to replace the complete fuel pump assembly. The work can be done DIY because the pump can be removed via an access plate located in the trunk behind the rear passenger seat.
