i just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this before.......

i took in my 2000 Civic EX into Honda since my CEL was on. when i took it in, Honda found that it was a bad knock sensor - they fixed it with no problem without charging me due to the fact that the car was still under warranty. A month and approxiamtely 200 miles later, the CEL comes back on. Took it back into Honda thinking they didnt fix the initial problem. got a call saying that i had a "bad throttle body and would cost $900+ to fix it". the car is still under warranty until July so i didnt care much...........told the guy to go ahead and fix it. the guy came back saying, "I really shouldnt be fixing it without charging you, but after talking to my boss, my boss said to go ahead and not charge you. You have a bad throttle body because of that intake you have."

now i dont know if he was blowing smoke or trying to come out like a phucking hero, but i find it hard to believe that my CAI has to be the cause of it. i've had that CAI in my car since the day i bought it - maybe not THAT day, but you know what i mean. have any of you guys heard/experienced this?? the mechanic said that the intake i have sucks in moister and too much air for the civic to handle.

any comments/replies would be aprreciated. thanks!

thats what i figured. i mean...........i dont see why that would void my warranty anyways. its not like im adding a turbo or anything of the sort, just inducing cold air to get into the engine. well....now i know. i still have my old air induction system that came with the car, so if i have problems with the car before July '07, i will just put it back on and bring it in so they cant use the CAI as an excuse.

well, you moding your car in general will void the warrenty... however i dont think the mod caused the problem
