2001 eclipse backup light wont go off

i have a 2001 eclipse spyder gs my backup lights come on as soon as i turn the key on and won't go off. I briefly browsed the forums and found nothing on this.. is anyone aware of the location of the switch that turns the backup lights on i have removed my center consule and found nothing I'm assuming its in the engine compartment..

i would assume it would be on the transmission. it should have a plug with a couple wires going out of it and it should be the only plug on the transmission. i'm assuming you have a manual transmission?
