My son has been having trouble starting his '94 626 the past few months here and there. The car only has about 50K on it, but sat for a long time outside at the previous owner's place. The starting problem has gotten progressively worse, now won't start at all. It is cranking fine, starter and battery sound fine, but I don't smell any gas anywhere. Could this be a fuel pump gone bad, and if so, where is it located so I can check it? I checked one fuse labeled "Engine" and it looked good as well. Could this be a fuse somewhere that has blown? I wouldn't think so as this has gotten progressively worse. Thanks for any tips.

Thanks for any tips.the easiest way to check if the fuel pump is workin is stand near the cars fuel tank, switch on the ignitionand listen for a hum. the pump is inside the tank.

No hum, just kind of a clicking noise back by the gas tank. Didn't check the plugs to see if they are sparking, just had the ole tow truck come and pick her up tonight, so hopefully the shop can tell me more tomorrow. Thanks.

Ok, another $600 later, apparently another notorious part on the old Mazda 626's went out on my son's car. Replaced the distributor, cap and rotor and it's running again. Beware those thinking of buying a used 626, the parts are quite expensive!

parts will be expensive on any limited run model. its a 94? the ford taurus was #1 selling passenger car in 94, parts will probably be alot cheaper for a 94 taurus due to the huge amount of them sold. mike

Yes, 1994. Good point about the supply issue on the cars, thanks.
